"BJD" is an acronym that stands for 'ball jointed doll'.  More specifically, the dolls on my page are Asian ball jointed dolls (or ABJD), as all of my current collection come from either Korea, Japan, or China.

These dolls have ball joints for articulation, generally in the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles--though there is a lot of variation from company to company in engineering of the doll's bodies.

There are tons of reasons why people collect these dolls.  For me personally it is an artistic outlet, and if I wasn't creating and producing art with them, I don't think I would be as interested in this hobby as I am.

If you would like to research some more about BJD/ABJD, here are some good places to start:

★ Den of Angels: This is THE largest forum for hobbyists.  The downside is that registration usually requires an invite from an existing member (not sure if it does at this exact moment or not, as sometimes the site does have open periods of registration).  If you don't have a friend who can send you an invite, you can send an email to the Den of Angels moderators at denofangels@gmail.com to request an invite!

Note: It's also worth it to google by your country or region to see if you can find local BJD Forums too.  They can net you just as much information, and are much smaller (which means less information to dig through, and possibly easier community interaction).

I've heard there's a good BJD community on Facebook too, but I don't use Facebook so I'm not familiar with it.

      ★ Wikipedia Page

★ BJD_WTF (livejournal): This is a good basic intro to BJD

And some of my favorite doll companies, if you would like to jump in and take a look at what is out there:

      ★ Migidoll

★ Volks (this link is to the International Website)

      ★ Crobidoll

Here are a few other popular doll companies in the hobby:

      ★ Luts

      ★ Iplehouse

      ★ Fairyland

And if you are in the US, here are two dealers who deal for many different companies.  Even if you aren't in the US they're nice as a reference to what is available:

      ★ Mint on Card

      ★ Denver Doll Emporium
